fllAbout FIRST LEGO® League (FLL)
FIRST LEGO® League (FLL) is a result of an exciting alliance between FIRST and the LEGO Company. Guided by adult mentors and their own imaginations, FLL students solve real-world engineering challenges, develop important life skills, and learn to make positive contributions to society. FLL provides students age 9-14 with an opportunity to challenge their math and science skills in an internationally recognized competitive environment. FLL combines a hands-on, interactive robotics program with a sports-like atmosphere. Teams of up to 10 players focus on team building, problem solving, creativity, and analytical thinking to develop a well thought out solution to a problem currently facing the world – the “Challenge”.
jrfllAbout Junior LEGO® League (Jr.FLL)
Created in partnership with the LEGO® Group, Junior FIRST LEGO® League (Jr.FLL) is geared to children aged 6 to 9 years old and utilizes a modified FIRST LEGO® League (FLL) framework. Jr.FLL introduces children to the concepts of teamwork and basic design skills, creating an initial interest and hands-on approach to science and technology through the familiarity and fun of LEGO building. The goal: provide an experience that will begin to transform youngsters and open their eyes to the possibilities of improving the world around them through acknowledgement, thought, planning and technology. The Jr.FLL experience also is a way of engaging younger siblings and friends of FLL team members in a similar team situation with goals. By cultivating their interest in and experience with this kind of hands-on, fun teamwork, they are likely to then transition to the FLL program, as they get older.
FLL Mission
The mission of FIRST and FIRST LEGO® League is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication and leadership.
